It has been quite sometime since I had a video on Recruitment Views, but today I was sent the video below by Marco Schreurs of HPO Centre. Although the video is in essences a marketing tool for the company, it has been developed as a result of research by a Dr. André de Waal MBA. The research was a global study into the main success factors of High Performance Organizations (HPOs) in 2004, which includes the analysis of 290 international studies conducted between 1960 and 2007 and 1470 organizations in 50 countries.

In some ways there is no surprise that it shows that with:

• Quality of management
• Quality of employees
• Continuous improvement and innovation
• Long-term orientation
• Openness and action orientation

You can have a high preforming company, but shown in a light hearted video below!

But for all the wrong reasons according to TipTopJob.com survey

The prestige, pomposity and tradition of the election battle seem as far removed from the standard office job as possible. But if the public had to, who would they least like to work with? Who would they prefer as a boss? A new survey from TipTopJob reveals some incisive results.

The survey of over 3000 jobseekers concluded that a staggering 51% of the British public would least like to work with Gordon Brown when compared to Nick Clegg (15%) and David Cameron (33%). Adding insult to injury a surprising 45% of voters elected Gordon as the most likely to embarrass themselves at the office party.

The survey also revealed that although the majority of people would prefer to work with Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat narrowly missed out on the ‘best boss’ gong to David Cameron. David Cameron was the boss of choice with 38% of the votes.

Unfortunately yet again our Prime Minister failed to impress, ranked as the public’s third choice boss with only 26% of the votes.

Corrine Hutchinson, Marketing Director of TipTopJob.com commented “What I found most intriguing about the results was the public’s clear preference to Nick Clegg as a co-worker but not as a superior. Perhaps this would suggest an inability to lead with strong conviction.”

Corinne continued “I know that the majority of our office was in agreement with the results of the office party question. Gordon seems like the kind of guy to enjoy himself should the right situation arise.”

Well after watching the poor Indian cleaning the sewers in Indian, I wondered if there are any other jobs you wouldn’t do.

So I had a little trawl of the internet and came up with some of the worst jobs in the world, well of course it depends upon your point of view

Mind you the other jobs my not necessarily be classed as bad jobs but more like tough jobs, still it makes you realise that recruitment isn’t so bad after all!

Thanks to Rod for this video, which came via his tweet and then via his blog Career Player. Oh how things are changing, more on that another day I think!

Rod is about to launch an amazing career site in the not to distant future called CareerPlayer, which I have to say will be something special, having had a sneak preview.

I digress just a little, Rod today posted a great recruitment video, which apart from being very funny, has I a serious side given the state of the market at the moment. It certainly makes you think how thinks have changed.

I am sure like many of my fellow bloggers we are forever checking our stats, mind you you would think after 3 years I would have stopped by now!

Still the one page that seems to get the most hits is the McDonald´s Job Application you have to laugh as I assume most go there because they are looking for a job, as a result there are one or two interesting comments, does sibtain seriously want to work in the lobby

In case you do not realise it is a spoof application.

Still it seemed appropriate to mention as they are looking to recruit 4000, new recruits even with the down turn, as more of us are turning to a cheaper option when it comes to lunch!

The only problem with having a relatively hi profile on the internet is when someone with the same name gets huge publicity it can have a back lash, which wouldn’t have been so bad if it wasn’t negative and associated with the term Wife Swap…

So on Friday it starts with a strange email to my boss saying

“Greetings,
I am appalled by your choice of employees (Stephen Fowler)! As a result, I will NEVER choose to do business with your company in any way, shape, or form.”

After closer inspection I obviously relieved to see it was mistaken identity and the result of a TV programme in the states called wife swap. Having watched the video of the film below I can see why the she sent such an email to my boss, who could blame her.

So just to confirm the Stephen Fowler in the video below isn’t me, nor would I treat anyone with the same disdain, still it wouldn’t take to long to confirm this. So if you think it couldn’t get any worse there is a website called  www.stephenfowlersucks.com
Oh what can I say!!!

Over the years I have posted the odd Monty Python video, so as they have now launched there own video channel on YouTube called….wait for it….The Monty Python Channel I thought it was a great excuse to embed their interview video at Exchange and Mart, these days of course it would be eBay!!

It can only happen on Youtube I suppose, well this news journalist from the Birmingham Mail, Adam Smith in a rather drunken stupor, while apparently writing up an article on the Barack Obama election win or should I say plagiarising the BBC, decides to hand in his notice while being interviewed.

I wonder if he is regretting what he said the day after and judging by the hits, I suspect his boss has found out by now or will the BBC decide to sue him.

My advice, never resign while drunk

As a professional recruiter would you contact this guy, probably not. I cannot help feel it has to be a hoax with the video made from his unmade bedroom. Is he working from his Mum and Dads place or from some student diggs, well who knows…..

Still I have posted the video below, how long it will last before Sam Small sees the error in his ways. yes I managed to track you down Sam, you even have a profile on Linkedin, so you are no longer below the radar.

Still however bad you may think it is, he gets 10 out of 10 for imagination and a very clever url.
