1946 Recruitment video for Librarians, good, modern and funny!!
So far I have show cased a number of recent recruitment videos some good and some bad. Today I came across this recruitment video for the recruitment of Librarians back in 1946, although it last just over 8 minutes long I couldn’t help feel it was excellent. It explained the various functions, the opportunities and covered the ideal background for someone joining the profession.
In truth it puts a more recent recruitment video for librarians to shame, as can be seen below although up beat it doesn’t really sell the profession to me.
Then again I suppose they were only just trying to shake of the image that Monty Python gave to the recruitment industry, well it is Friday.
Thanks to Becky for spotting the them

Recruitment Companies Beware
Many of us Recruitment Bloggers and myself included, have talked a lot about the benefits of having a blog as part of the marketing mix, to gain quality candidates and generally improve ones perception within the market place.
What has disappointed me is that so few have taken up this option, how many times do we need to advise recruitment consultancies this is the way forward. In the case of the UK maybe we are just too scared to let anyone know what we are up to; as commented by Mary in a recent post "Are we better recruiters than the Americans".
What has made me revisit this subject is I came across a very interesting blog from Australia called Freelanceswitch, as the name implies it is a blog for freelancers.
While I was reading through their posts, I couldn’t help feel that if they wanted to enter the recruitment industry, they would succeed, because if I was looking for a job I know I would feel comfortable using them. Why? well its obvious really their, their blog transmits an image of an experienced team who understand their market, so who better to ask for help when looking for that next career move!
As it turns out it is something they are considering, as they will be adding a jobs board to their site, but seriously if they decided to go into recruitment I would certainly be worried.
Although it is early days for them I will tip this company to do well, and I will be watching them closely here at recruitment views and maybe the odd consultancy could learn something from them.

Happy Birthday Recruitment Views!
Although I have been blogging for just over 12 months, Recruitment Views has finally made its first birthday, I almost cannot believe it.
It’s been fun and I have learnt so much over that time, but I am not going to boor you with all the details now, I will save that for another day.
I have to apologise for the lack of post over the last couple of weeks, as I have been mad busy, but at last I have managed to get my blog roll up to date, well almost. I know there are a few missing friends so if you think you should have been included just send me a reminder.
Although I have not posted for a while I cannot say that I have not noticed the stirrings between Dan Maguire and Peter Gold, is Peter after some cheap publicity or did he have some value. Still Dan can look after himself and he will need to adapt to changes like us all to survive, but one thing is for sure any good consultancy should be analising their ad response, otherwise it is wasted money and Dans software certainly makes that easier.
To finish on one thought in regards to RSS feeds for vacancies, I am confident this will become more important in the future, but without the ability to analysis which sites are providing quality candidates, then we are just stabbing in the dark and that is no way to run a business.

Is this the worst recruitment video!
I need to apologise for this video, I mean I had a huge respect for Ernst and Young until I saw their recruitment video, as pointed out via Johnnie Moore.
What were they thinking of, you get the impression that the poor staff have been dragged in for a training conference and made to perform like misplaced miss fits!
I just would have died, still Johnnie I did get to the end but it was painful.
