Vote for the Best UK Recruitment Blog of 2007

Winner_2As 2007 comes to an end I was pleased to receive an email from Louise of UK recruiter, asking me to give some exposure to a competition for the “Best UK Recruitment Blog.”

Although I have to admit it could be a one horse race, but none the less it still should be fun to see who will be in the runners up!

What I did find fascinating was how this small band of blogger’s has grown to 33 from just a handful at the beginning of the year. Of those some seem to have given up, which isn’t surprising as writing articles for a a blog takes so much time and effort.

So who do I think will be in the runners up or certainly worth a vote. Well the big guns will be there I am sure, Tim has to be the optimist of the group with comments like “Fulham top of the League” hmm, Dominic solid and dependable. Peter complaining if he doesn’t get a vote, in fact I think he would complain even if he did win. Andy appealing to the generation X and Matt already looking for a few votes. But we all need to watch out for the new kid on the block Dan as he I am sure will be up there and fighting for some more exposure for Broadbean, but does he need any more success!!

Still I will let you all decide just follow this link to vote.

A Job Board with a difference

zenrec-logoOne of the great things about writing this blog is I get sent items to review, generally Job boards but none the less I get to see some new ideas first.

Yesterday I received an email from Colin of Zenrec introducing me to theirs, although I have seen a few in my time, this is something different and for that reason I was keen to write a few comments.

What I really like about Zenrec is that they have “thought outside the box” and not like others trying to knock recruitment companies, they have looked at the positives. This site is aimed at companies who already see the benefit of using Recruitment consultants who either don’t have a preferred supplier or they have a difficult position to fill and their current supplier doesn’t specialise in that market.

So all the client needs to do is upload the vacancy for free and that then it is distributed to all the agencies that specialise in their industry or market. Then the registered consultants can send relevant cvs to the client.

It is a simple idea with huge potential, if they succeed I can see them growing and become an alternative to Broadbean and if you include a bit of the of the web 2.0 phenomena and enable scoring, they may even succeed where the REC has failed.

Head Hunter Video

I have to apologise in advance for the lack of posts since last Thursday, and if you popped by and found recruitment views had vanished, well my hosting company pulled all the database connections, with no warning or explanation to anyone.

I could have lost my temper but as they have always given such a good service in the past, I just chilled as shouting and raving wouldn’t have made a blind bit of difference.

Well that was my excuse till Monday, since then I have been working flat out, which I suppose is the Xmas rush before it goes deadly quiet, except for the merriment and long lunches of course. Is that why we have not heard from Louise for a while or is she out shopping for the 10 best Recruitment Presents!

So know I am back into the swing I thought I would start posting with this humorous headhunting video I came across last week from a Dutch recruitment company the video is below, PS its not for the squeamish.
